| “When
a woman in a certain African tribe knows she is pregnant,
she goes out into the wilderness with a few friends
and together they pray and meditate until they hear
the song of the child. They recognize that every soul
has its own vibration that expresses its unique flavour
and purpose. When the women attune to the song, they
sing it out loud. Then they return to the tribe and
teach it to everyone else. When the child is born, the
community gathers and sings the child’s song to
him or her.
Later, when the child enters education, the village
gathers and chants the child’s song. When the
child passes through the initiation to adulthood, the
people again come together and sing. At the time of
marriage, the person hears his or her song. Finally,
when the soul is about to pass from this world, the
family and friends gather at the person’s bed,
just as they did at their birth, and they sing the person
to the next life.”
The above turned up in my email inbox just as the two
amethyst crystals on this page came into my life. Stones,
rocks and crystals fill my studio and home. They communicate
with me at some unseen, higher level.
I
see images or hear subtle messages. These two rocks
– from the Hart Ranges in the Northern Territory
of Australia – started singing to me as soon as
I held them. I could see the energy lines flowing from
them to me to the Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland.
The stone spirits began speaking to me of the Songlines
of our lives - of our interconnectedness and the universal
energy lines that spread through timelessness.
Songlines radiate from our heart and soul. They are
intertwined with every level of your being and beyond
to the Universe, Mother Earth and all sentient beings
on our lovely planet. You are born with your own song
ringing in your ears. Unfortunately, that song gets
dimmed during childhood as we adapt to society’s
requirements and we learn the need for approval and
“fitting in”.
If we ignore our own personal song and try to drown
it out, we live in tension and unhappiness, inner emptiness
and feelings of isolation because we’ve separated
ourselves from our authentic self. If we listen closely,
we can hear our song, encourage it to become louder
and finally embrace it to sing our own song with passion
for life and love for ourselves and all beings. When
we do so, we know we’ve come home to ourselves
because we are experiencing true soul healing, the most
powerful healing of all.
I have learned that the heart is the gateway of the
soul and everything we process goes through the heart.
I have come to this conclusion not through thoughts
in my head but through the healing path I’ve followed
over the past decade and more. Of profound healing for
me has been a soul retrieval process I undertook recently
over nearly eighteen months. It has left me deeply connected
to Mother Earth and to the recognition that being grounded
and here in the present is an essential ingredient of
walking our talk, talking our walk. It has brought me
to a feeling of wholeness for the first time in my life
and to a place of deep inner peace*. My personal experience
is why I focus on following the Songlines of the heart.
I encourage you to follow the same path. To listen once
again to your own personal song, the melody of your
soul, is truly to return to yourself.
